Cline v4.0.0 launched in June with major new features including ClinePass subscription service, a Customize marketplace for extensions, and improved agent composition. Multiple new models and providers were added throughout the month.
Models and Providers
- Claude Sonnet 5 support: Now available across Anthropic, Bedrock, Vertex, Claude Code, SAP AI Core, OpenRouter, and Vercel AI Gateway providers with updated model pickers.
- ClinePass integration: Select from ClinePass models directly in the model picker with onboarding and live model lists in VS Code.
- New model additions: Support added for MiniMax M3, Fireworks AI models, Claude Fable 5, and DeepSeek V4 reasoning format.
Agents and Automation
- Configured agents as subagent tools: Use configured agents as subagent tools for more flexible agent composition and delegation within workflows.
- Queued prompts: Submit messages while Cline works, with the ability to cancel before they run.
- Plugin command integration: Plugin commands can now submit prompts to the agent for deeper workflow integration.
Interface and Extensibility
- Customize marketplace: Discover and manage Skills, MCP servers, and Plugins directly from the extension with a redesigned hub dashboard.
- Cline Plugins: Extend the tool with custom tools, workflows, and integrations tailored to your team or project.
- Message editing: Edit and regenerate previous user messages for better workflow control.
- MCP server support in plugins: Plugins can authorize OAuth during installation and bundle skills that group together in settings.
