September brought major workflow improvements to Cline, including conversation history import from competing tools, remote SSH support, and a native desktop app with isolated task execution. The model catalog expanded significantly with dozens of new providers and updated defaults across the platform.
Workflow and Interface
- Conversation history import: Import fully resumable sessions from Claude Code, Codex, and OpenCode, grouped by source tool with search and deduplication. The model sees a concise summary while the original transcript remains unchanged.
- Remote SSH support: Run Cline on a remote Linux or macOS host while keeping the desktop UI local. Add hosts in Settings, then select one from the environment selector to browse projects and work normally.
- Cline Desktop: Native app for running open-weight models, importing tasks, scheduling runs, and browsing a plugin marketplace. Tasks run in isolated git worktrees, keeping your working tree untouched.
- GitHub PR integration: View PR number, merge status, changed lines, and CI checks directly in the Composer with links. A "Create PR" button opens GitHub's form if no PR exists.
- Unified Customize view: Tools, Plugins, Skills, and Rules now appear in a single list with search, bulk enable/disable for tools, and in-place toggles for skills.
- Enter key queue handling: Send queued messages into the current turn. If the composer is empty, Enter automatically steers the first queued message to run at the next turn boundary.
Agents and Plugins
- Agent Plugins Hub: Plugins are discovered and managed through a shared Hub, with packages from ~/.agents/plugins validated and their skills automatically available. Hub-managed enable/disable controls replace manual configuration.
- Plugin slash commands: Plugin slash commands now execute properly instead of being sent as text.
- MCP tool pagination: MCP tools can now paginate large outputs so agents access data beyond context limits.
Models and Providers
- Expanded model catalog: The catalog grew to 209 providers and 6,237 models, adding AI21 Labs, Inco, OCI Generative AI, Crusoe, ai&, Bee, Pareto Inference, and others. Default models shifted toward DeepSeek V4.1 Flash, Gemini 3.8 Flash, GPT-6 Astra, and Claude Sonnet 5.5.
- Voice input: Voice input returns with live streaming transcription from OpenAI, Vercel, and ElevenLabs.
Platform and Tools
- Linux support: Desktop now runs on Linux with native GTK file picker and background updates. Linux ARM64 support includes native .deb and .rpm packages with auto-update.
- Cloud session persistence: Cloud agent sessions now preserve workspace files, history, and settings when resumed.
- Diagnostics and About page: A new Diagnostics export tool helps troubleshoot issues safely. Settings now includes an About page showing version, channel, and recent release notes with update checks and a What's new dialog after updates.
