August brought major expansions to Cursor's agent capabilities and code hosting, with Google Workspace integration, faster Cloud Agents, and the early beta launch of Origin code hosting alongside new agent automation features.
Agents and Automation
- Cloud Agents event subscriptions: Agents automatically wake to handle pull requests, Slack threads, and other events, driving tasks to completion without manual intervention.
- Cloud Agents 3x faster startup: Builds pre-configure development environments so agents skip setup overhead, with fallback to the last successful build if a commit breaks the environment.
- Subagents and custom modes: Run agents in isolated virtual machines for parallel testing, and pin skills to keep agents focused on specific workflows.
- Long-lived objectives: The /goal command sets persistent objectives that agents pursue until complete, with improved steering to send follow-up messages without interruption.
- Cloud Agents without version control: Start building immediately without GitHub, saving to a Cursor Origin repo later and optionally publishing to a live URL via Vercel.
Code Hosting and Integrations
- Origin code hosting: Host repositories directly in Cursor with bidirectional pull request syncing to GitHub, agent code changes, and integrations with Vercel, Depot, and Buildkite for deployments and CI workflows.
- Google Workspace plugins: Agents access Gmail, Google Drive, and Calendar directly from Cursor, enabling file management, email handling, and schedule coordination.
- Live preview for agents: Run your agent's environment directly in the browser to test and use design mode before creating a named Origin repo.
