Pi released several major updates in September 2026, adding support for the latest frontier models, new provider integrations, and powerful developer tools for managing AI workflows and debugging.
Models and Providers
- Latest frontier models: Claude Opus 5.5 with adaptive thinking and 1M context window, GPT-6 Sol, GPT-6 Luna, and GPT-6.1 Sol are now available across GitHub Copilot, OpenAI API, and Anthropic providers.
- Meta Muse provider: Access Meta's Muse Spark models with automatic API key refresh, keeping sessions active without manual updates.
- GPT-6 Astra: Available for users with OpenAI API keys or OpenAI Codex subscriptions.
- Offline model catalog: Instantly select Radius models with cached data and live updates when available.
Agents and Automation
- Codemode and MCP support: Models can run JavaScript in a sandbox calling tools in parallel, with MCP servers managed through configuration files or commands.
- Virtual models: Extensions can route each request to different physical models based on classifiers or custom logic.
- MCP enhancements: OAuth client names, provider-based HTTP server login tokens, optional server descriptions, and describeNamespace() helper for flexible tool discovery.
- Full-transcript context extensions: Apply per-request system-message transformations using the context_with_system option.
Interface and Workflow
- Fullscreen transcript controls: Jump to the latest message and view a working indicator while scrolled in the transcript.
- Bug reporting command: The /bug command files detailed reports that automatically include environment, model, provider, extension, settings and diagnostics, uploadable to Radius or saved as zip.
- System theme support: Pi now includes a system theme that derives colors from your terminal, plus image generation across providers.
Platform and Security
- Restorable sessions: Resume externally stored session entries through the SDK.
- ChatGPT sign-in: Use your ChatGPT subscription with the OpenAI provider via /login openai.
- Anthropic workload identity federation: Credential management now available via environment variables.
