Windsurf August 2026 brought major improvements to agent workflows, remote development, and workspace management, making multi-agent collaboration and planning more transparent and flexible.
Agent Workflows and Collaboration
- Agent Command Center improvements: Now follows your selected space, converts editor windows in place, and runs multiple agent windows side by side for better multi-agent workflows.
- Plan mode with explicit review: Generates a full Markdown file for review before implementation, with a dedicated Implement button for clearer control over changes.
- Devin Local conversation sharing: Share conversations with a sanitized transcript and team-visible link directly from the actions menu.
- Diff summaries on agent groups: Collapsed agent group summaries are now clickable and open a multi-diff editor to review all files changed by that group.
- Shell output streaming: Command output streams live during execution and expands to show full commands and results for better visibility.
Remote Development and Workspace Management
- Remote codemaps and MCP files: Codemaps and MCP configuration files now open from the remote machine when connected over WSL, SSH, or a dev container.
- Multi-root workspace support: Virtual filesystem folders are now supported in multi-root workspaces for more flexible project structures.
- Agent window location setting: A new setting lets you split the agent window from the editor for better screen space management.
Interface and Security
- Untrusted workspace warnings: Warnings now appear in the agent sidebar, composer, and welcome page with trust prompts for better security awareness.
- Customizations panel enhancements: Added search across all sections, a new Subagents section, plugin refresh, and enterprise plugin removal explanations.
