Amp's agent modes are now a simple dial with four settings—low, medium, high, ultra—replacing the old smart, deep, rush, and large modes. Each dial position balances task difficulty against cost and speed, with medium as the recommended default for most work. The dial removes hidden model choices: you now pick based on how well you know the solution, not which model is best this month. Switch modes with Ctrl+S in the CLI or the web app's mode picker. Legacy modes are available as installable plugins if you need them.
