CodeWhale released versions 0.9.5 through 0.9.11 in August, adding automatic model selection, new AI providers, enhanced agent visibility, and workflow management tools.
Models and Providers
- Automatic model selection: Chooses between faster and more capable model tiers based on prompt complexity.
- New AI providers: Added Mistral AI with Codestral models, OrcaRouter with automatic routing, Eden AI with DeepSeek models, and Ollama Cloud as a hosted option.
- Grok 4.6 and GLM-5.3 defaults: Upgraded xAI's Grok to version 4.6 with 500K context and configurable reasoning; Z.ai GLM-5.3 now default on Coding Plan.
- DeepSeek vision model: Added deepseek-v4-flash-vision-exp with image input support.
Agents and Workflow
- Agent shadowing and visibility: Scout and Reviewer agents now inspect code and Git in a read-only sandbox; visible agent shadowing shows which agents ran in the current session.
- Workflow dashboard and proposals: Live /workflows command displays all retained runs with status and progress; /workflow proposals require explicit confirmation before launching.
- Goal mode: Automatically creates session goals from multi-turn requests.
Interface and Workflow
- Session history branching: Fork, branch, and resume conversations with /tree, /branch, /fork, and /resume commands.
- Composer improvements: Multiline mode lets you press Enter for new lines and Shift+Enter to send; embedded web client redesigns composer to match terminal grammar.
- Turn Inspector and extensions inventory: Turn Inspector opens newest turn with searchable and exportable output; /extensions and /plugins browse catalogs without installing.
