GPT-6.1 Terra is now available, a cheaper alternative to GPT-6.1 Sol optimized for everyday coding and terminal tasks. It delivers noticeably higher success rates on terminal and C# coding challenges than the previous Terra version. Users can select it via the model picker in VS Code, Visual Studio, JetBrains IDEs, Xcode, Eclipse, the Copilot CLI, the web UI, and mobile apps. Copilot Enterprise and Business admins can manage access with a new model-policy setting in Copilot settings.
GitHub Copilot rolls out generally available assisted permissions
Assisted permissions are now generally available in the Copilot CLI, desktop app, and VS Code. A language model evaluates each request and automatically approves clearly safe commands, file accesses, or URLs. Enterprise controls let administrators block “Allow All”, keep Assisted enabled or disable it, and set the default permission mode for new sessions.
