Goose released three updates in August 2026, adding major provider expansion, new interactive controls, and built-in skills for web search and browser automation.
Models and Providers
- Expanded provider support: Added Anthropic, Google, Azure AI Foundry, OllamaCloud, Sakana AI, Fireworks, Together AI, Perplexity, xAI, and many others, plus MLX and Vulkan for local inference.
- New declarative providers: Support for TrustedRouter, OpenCode Zen, Gondola, SayGM, Lynkr, and PleumRouter with a routing table replacing the model list.
- Model-native audio transcription: Transcribe audio directly using the model's native capabilities.
Agent Controls and Commands
- New slash commands: Added /goal for agent self-evaluation, /status for status checks, /model to switch providers mid-session, and /new to start fresh sessions without restarting.
- Tool execution control: Hooks with PreToolUse denial let you control whether tools are executed.
- Interactive git branch indicator: See and switch git branches directly from the chat bottom bar without leaving the conversation.
Interface and Workflow
- Interactive menu for selections: Single select elicitations now use an interactive menu for easier navigation.
- Chat history search in navigation: Search chat history directly from the navigation panel.
- Sessions grouped by project: Sessions are now organized by project with deep links for resuming or creating sessions directly.
- Built-in web and browser skills: Web-search and browser-use are now integrated as built-in skills.
