Zed 1.15.0 through 1.16.1 expanded AI model options, improved Git workflows, and added new data handling and agent capabilities throughout August.
AI Models and Providers
- New AI models: Added Gemini 3.6 and 3.7 Flash for Google AI, Claude Opus 5 for OpenCode Zen, and multiple models including Grok, Kimi, Qwen, and others across coding assistants.
- Reasoning effort selector: Now available for Anthropic-compatible providers when your model supports adaptive thinking.
- Self-hosted Sweep Next Edit models: OpenAI-compatible edit predictions now support self-hosted models with automatic detection.
Agents and Automation
- Agent user interaction: The Agent can now ask users questions through forms with selectable options, free-text input, or both.
Interface and Workflow
- Skip Hooks toggle: A new toggle in the Git Panel and commit modal lets you bypass pre-commit and commit-msg hooks for the next commit.
- Blame actions: View a file's revision history and compare with parent revisions directly from the editor.
- Tabular data previews: CSV, TSV, PSV, and SSV files now display with sortable columns, row filtering, independent column resizing, and persistent row numbers while scrolling.
- Drag files to external apps: Project Panel files can now be dragged to external applications on macOS and Linux Wayland.
